The FEC is part of a global approach in line with its commitment to Sustainable Development, given the challenges of implementing the National Strategy for Sustainable Development (NSSD) and the challenges of the current context, in particular those related to climate change.
Thus, the Bank has established as a strategic priority the integration of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) criteria in its financing activity infrastructure and equipment projects of Territorial Communities. Thisapproach involves in particular the targeted sectors of financing, that integrate projects aimed at reducing territorial and social disparities, the transition to low-carbon development and strengthening the resilience of territories to climate change.
At the same time, and with the aim of establishing an effective Corporate and Environmental Responsibility (CER) approach holistic and aligned to national and international standards for ESG aspects management, the Bank conducted a process of defining its CER challenges.
This process allowed highlighting 12 value-adding commitments that were shared with the Bank's stakeholders. These commitments are structured around 4 areas, which consolidate the main actions undertaken and therefore enable the Bank's strategic vision in this area to be expressed. These areas are broken down as follow:
In addition, and as part of its strategic partnership with an international donor, the FEC has set up a logical framework aimed at implementing, in an operational manner, its strategic positioning in favor of a sustainable and resilient territorial development, in particular through the adoption of a Pro-climate approach allowing the identification of opportunities for climate co-benefit projects.
As part of this Pro-climate approach, a climate action plan has been drawn up, which is defined as a roadmap aimed at integrating climate into the Bank's financing strategy and supporting Territorial Communities in order to enable the emergence of sustainable development projects and projects with co-benefit climate.
